Tesla US Model 3 gets larger screen and eligible cars power appliances

US buyers get the larger screen, while appliance power depends on the car's Powershare eligibility, so check compatibility before paying for accessories.[1][2]

Tesla's China Model 3 refresh adds a 16 inch screen and power for camping appliances, but US shoppers are no longer excluded from those features. Tesla (TSLA) now says new US Model 3 orders qualify for Powershare, making the individual car's compatibility more useful than an early regional comparison.

The China changes include an optional light gray interior and up to 2.2 kW of vehicle to load power, according to Tesla promotional materials reproduced by Electrek in its September 30, 2026 report and by Carscoops. V2L means using the car's battery to run equipment outside it. The screen gap has already closed: Tesla North America's October 2, 2026 announcement, reproduced by TeslaNorth, says every US Model 3 now gets the larger display.

Check the car before the accessory

Tesla's current Powershare page says new Model 3 and Model Y orders in the US and Puerto Rico qualify from October 1, 2026. Some Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced before October 1, 2026 qualify too, but Tesla explicitly says that doesn't cover every car. Tesla's adapter listing identifies earlier eligible Model Y vehicles as Performance versions produced from December 2025, Premium versions from April 2026 and L Premium versions from September 2026. Its manual gives buyers a concrete check: open Controls, then Software, then Additional Vehicle Information, and look for Powershare support marked “Enabled.”

For compatible US cars, Tesla lists an $80 outlet adapter that works with its Gen 3 Mobile Connector and supplies up to 2.4 kW. The adapter was listed as out of stock when we checked on October 8, 2026. Don't assume an older charging cable will work: Tesla excludes the Gen 2 Mobile Connector.

What that outlet can power

Tesla names lights, laptops and refrigerators among potential uses, while its manual excludes appliances with high wattage heating elements or large, heavy duty motors. Check the equipment's requirements against the outlet limit; a camping setup still has a shared power ceiling.

The manual also says the outlet adapter cannot power an electrical panel. We covered the separate installed system in Tesla adds Model 3 and Model Y home backup with Powerwall 3.

Before delivery, confirm the car's compatibility: open Controls, then Software, then Additional Vehicle Information, and check that Powershare support is marked “Enabled.”
