AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) closed down 6.13% at $56.93 at 4 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, October 8, erasing Tuesday’s 8.01% rise to $63.12, according to Stock Analysis’s price history.
An October 5 announcement from TELUS says AST and TELUS (TU) completed their first network integration test, a step toward satellite connections for phones beyond cell tower coverage.
| Trading snapshot | Price | Daily move |
|---|---|---|
| October 6 close | $63.12 | Up 8.01% |

Tuesday’s session drew roughly 17.6 million shares of trading, compared with 8.1 million on Monday. By Thursday’s close, the price was below Monday’s close, meaning the entire rally had been surrendered. The test precedes customer service
TELUS says the integration advances broadband data, voice calls and text messages between smartphones and AST’s satellites. Its stated goal is to extend coverage into remote parts of Canada using eligible phones without extra equipment.
The timing matters: TELUS expects customer availability within the next year. The announcement reports a successful test, rather than the start of a service customers can already use.
AST’s second quarter materials show a similar distinction between progress and commercial delivery. The company reported $31.5 million in quarterly revenue, driven by gateway equipment deliveries and U.S. government milestones, while describing its planned 2026 beta service as noncommercial usage with selected mobile network partners in its August 10 earnings release filed with the SEC as Exhibit 99.1.
TELUS’s October 5 announcement puts expected customer availability within a year, roughly by October 2027, without a confirmed launch day. AST’s current customer FAQ still describes initial U.S. beta access through AT&T and Verizon with coverage that won’t be continuous, but gives no start date. The milestones to watch are beta access for end users and TELUS opening the service to customers; the August 2026 beta target should be treated as earlier guidance rather than a newly confirmed timetable.
