Rivian says its R2 Standard, starting at $44,990, will be available in late 2027, the existing timetable for the version aimed at shoppers seeking its lowest price. Its main R2 page lists the Standard for 2027; the Halloween campaign specifies the later part of the year.
The timing appears beneath the vehicle lineup on a page promoting software themed around Ghostbusters. Electrek’s coverage, published October 8, 2026, focused on the seasonal lights, sounds and games, but the pricing footnote carries a more lasting detail for prospective buyers: the advertised entry price belongs to a future model. Checked on October 9, 2026, the availability footnote reads: “New R2 Standard starting at $44,990 will be available in late 2027.” Neither Rivian page displays a publication date.
Rivian had disclosed late 2027 timing by March 12, 2026, according to TechCrunch’s report published that day. The campaign therefore repeats an existing schedule rather than announcing a new one.
The advertised price comes later
Rivian’s R2 page identifies the Performance as available now, while the Premium is scheduled for late 2026. That makes the lineup worth checking carefully before treating the lowest advertised price as today’s purchase option.
| R2 version | Starting price | Rivian’s availability schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $44,990 | Late 2027 |
| Premium | $53,990 | Late 2026 |
| Performance | $57,990 | Available now |
The Standard’s base specification uses a single motor driving the rear wheels, with a standard interior and audio system. Rivian also lists configurations with longer range and all wheel drive as options, so shoppers should distinguish the entry configuration from upgrades.
These remain company schedules and starting prices. The campaign includes a $1,495 destination charge, taking the Standard’s stated base price to $46,485 before taxes and other fees, and says pricing can change. Neither page specifies when orders will open for the entry Standard or a firm month for its first deliveries.
